Componeering acquired by Altair - ESAComp remains strong in the HyperWorks Suite

Altair vertical RGB wout guidesSept. 14, 2017. As announced today, Altair Engineering, Inc. (Troy, MI, USA) has acquired Componeering (Press Release). Componeering continues at its Helsinki premises and becomes Altair Engineering Finland Oy. Markku Palanterä, former CEO of Componeering, now Director ESAComp at Altair confirms, "The acquisition brings to Altair our team with expertise in composites along with our industry-proven composites software ESAComp which complements Altair's finite element offering perfectly on both pre- and post-processing side".

For ESAComp users, the future is bright. ESAComp continues as a stand-alone product, under Altair's HyperWorks suite, and ESAComp technology will also be integrated in other Altair products. This will enable even more streamlined processes and time-savings by having everything in one workflow: A benefit for designers across all industries working with layered composite structures. In the coming weeks, Altair will be contacting ESAComp users to introduce themselves and to discuss the new opportunities that are now available.

Varna Library ProposalWhen Varna, Bulgaria, wanted to consolidate their libraries to create the "Varna Regional Library", a new and active public space in the centre of the city, they launched an open international architectural competition and invited architects across the world to participate.

In this article, we take a look at aspects of one of the entries, from Digital Architects (Vienna, Austria) and Archicoplex Ltd (Tokyo, Japan), and how they applied the design and analysis capabilities of ESAComp for the development and evaluation of materials, key members and joints within the external, organic composite façade.
